That Peter Crouch Podcast: Back Stronger
Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
On this week’s episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast, the lads are joined by former Arsenal and Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury—a man known for his composed playmaking style, his Premier League journey, and now, his unexpected new life as a lawn-care entrepreneur.
Henri gets candid about a life-changing diagnosis—testicular cancer—and opens up on how he discovered it, why he kept it quiet during his career, and how football dressing room culture shaped his response. In a powerful, funny, and refreshingly honest chat, Henri explains the moment he realised something was wrong, the speed of his surgery, and how football banter helped him process it all.
The lads also dive into Henri’s career journey through Arsenal’s elite youth system, wild loan spells at Scunthorpe and Norwich, and his glory years at Forest. There’s even time to talk about robot lawn mowers, silent discos, and how Henri went from footballer to founder of Grass Gains, the fertiliser brand making waves in Premier League stadiums and home gardens alike.
Stick around to hear some top-class football nostalgia, locker room laughs, and the kind of heartfelt real talk that this podcast delivers best.

Norma Percy is a documentary film-maker. She has been making programmes for over three decades and her productions have featured a range of political leaders from Tony Blair and Bill Clinton to Mikhail Gorbachev and Slobodan Milošević.

Norma was born in New York City and majored in Government at Oberlin College in Ohio. In 1963 she moved to London where she studied at the London School of Economics, before finding a job in the House of Commons as a researcher for the MP John Mackintosh.
In 1972 she became a researcher for Brian Lapping, working on the Granada series State of the Nation. Later she produced The Second Russian Revolution and the award-winning Watergate – a five-part BBC series about the Watergate scandal.

Conversations about health, science, wellness, life, love, sex and everything in-between. Laura is a Pharmacist who loves to talk to interesting people about their unique life and work experiences. See @fabulouspharmacist on instagram for more information.
Cancer has overtaken cardiovascular disease as the leading cause of death in Ireland, yet our mortality rates are falling faster than anywhere else in Europe. What's driving this paradox? Professor Deirdre Murray, Director of the National Cancer Registry of Ireland, pulls back the curtain on how cancer data is transforming healthcare in this country.
Every year, the Registry captures data on approximately 24,000 new invasive cancer cases, plus 11,000 skin cancers. While this might sound alarming, Murray explains how this comprehensive collection method actually provides Ireland with more accurate statistics compared to countries that only sample portions of their population. The registry tracks three vital metrics: incidence rates, mortality figures, and survival statistics – all essential for effective cancer control.
The conversation takes fascinating turns through Ireland's screening programmes, where cervical screening has already begun reducing cancer incidence, and the revolutionary impact of the HPV vaccine, which is projected to make cervical cancer a rare disease by 2040. Murray dismantles common misconceptions about cancer, explaining why most patients are over 60 despite media portrayals focusing on younger patients, and why early diagnosis remains so crucial: ”The earlier you go to get things checked out, the earlier the stage you are diagnosed, the less treatment you're going to need.”
Perhaps most striking is Murray's revelation about Ireland's technological challenges. Despite being a tech-literate nation, Ireland ranks last among 22 developed countries for health digital policy and data linkages. With over 800 different systems operating across our public health sector alone, the fragmentation prevents the seamless information flow that could transform cancer care. As Murray puts it, ”My local Tesco knows more about me than my local hospital does.”
Whether you're concerned about cancer risk factors, curious about screening programmes, or interested in how data shapes healthcare policy, this episode offers invaluable insights into the present and future of cancer control in Ireland. Listen now to understand the remarkable progress we've made and the challenges that still lie ahead.

England India Daily, 4th Test, Old Trafford Day 2: Zak Crawley continued his love of the Old Trafford pitch as he and Ben Duckett set up a potential first innings lead for England, but can they arrest their aversion to centuries? India’s bowlers shook off a sleepy start to finish the day strongly, however, and Jasprit Bumrah (who else) caused trouble as stumps drew near. It was the worst possible news for Rishabh Pant, who confirmed a series-ending foot fracture, but even that won’t stop him from having a say in the Test as he bravely came back out to bat in the morning session. Earlier, it was Ben Stokes (who else) for England. Daniel Norcross joins Ben Jones from Old Trafford to dissect where today leaves the series.

Twiggy turned the modelling world upside down with her androgynous style, big round eyes, bold eyelashes, and pixie haircut, becoming a defining figure and fashion icon of the swinging 60s. However, the defence argued this material had too vague a link and was far too prejudicial to be heard by the jury. As we hear this news, concerns rise again about the influence of people like self-described misogynist Andrew Tate, and there are calls for his content to be taken down. Welcome to Rebel Women, a podcast about the history of troublemakers in East London. This corner of Britain’s capital has seen multiple waves of migration, poverty and persecution. Sometimes feared, always looked down upon, the residents have struggled.
But out of these struggles rose up some of history’s greatest radicals leaders – leaders of movements that have changed both the local landscape, and wider society too. Many of them were women. And most you will have never heard about, despite their huge achievements.
Esther Freeman has spent five years poking around in archives and conducting oral history interviews, pulling together a collection of East London’s hidden histories. These women shaped our society, they fought on when nobody thought they could win. There is so much we can achieve by honouring their memories and learning their lessons.
Our first series features nine stories. We will introduce you to lesbian suffragettes; the socialist socialite Daisy Greville; and the Dagenham Ford Machinists, a group of working class women who ushered in the 1970 Equal Pay Act.

What got you through lockdown? Was it the Zoom calls with your relatives, the What’s App groups for your street? For me it was being able to order copious amounts of craft materials through Amazon, to fill those endless hours at home with my daughter.
So imagine what it was like in 1918 when they had none of these things? How did they ever get through it? Well the truth is a lot of them didn’t, because a lot of them simply died.
This is the last episode of our current series on women and pandemics. If you are looking for more stories, visit our website at www.beyondmedicine.org.uk

Gabby Logan is middle-aged and unashamed. But what does it mean to be at the halfway stage of your life? Here, Gabby talks candidly to well-known faces about their own midlife challenges and expectations, drawing on the advice of experts from sleep gurus, nutritionists, and doctors specialising on hormone treatment.
Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Gabby is joined by Consultant Psychiatrist Professor Steve Peters, who – for the last thirty years – has helped people from all walks of life to better understand the way their brains work and optimise their psychological health. These people include elite athletes and Olympians, household names such as Sir Chris Hoy, who previously said on this podcast that Steve was a “once in a lifetime person”.
We hear how Steve came to recognise psychological dysfunction when he was a junior doctor, and how he realised that psychiatry was crucial to people’s lives whilst training to become a GP. We learn how this set him on a course to developing the Chimp Paradox mind management model, and then – as he describes it – going undercover at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004. Fast forward to today, and he has provided consultancy to over twenty Olympic and national sporting teams.
As well as expanding on how the chimp paradox works, Steve also shares his thoughts on screening ADHD and later life diagnoses; ways we can teach children to understand their brains better, so that they are more mentally resilient later on in life; and how the teenage brain is different and influenced by feeling not fact, so we must adapt our language accordingly. We also learn more about Steve’s own sporting success, after he rediscovered sprinting in midlife, and his thoughts and advice for keeping our brains fit and healthy into old age.
This is an uplifting episode, full of tips and tools to help keep your psychological health in check, which will leave you with the sense that we are all more resilient than we might think.
If you want to learn more about Professor Peters’ mind management programmes, his books The Chimp Paradox and A Path Through The Jungle are available now.

Hannah Fry and Dara Ó Briain tackle listeners’ conundrums with the power of science!
The term ‘bird brain’ might suggest our feathered friends are stupid, but Hannah and Dara learn it’s completely untrue. They play hide and seek with a raven called Bran, and hear how his behaviour changes depending on his mood. Corvid expert Nicola Clayton explains these creatures are actually cleverer than the average 8-year-old, and can learn how to choose specific tools for different scenarios. And neurobiologist Andreas Nieder tells them that while crows evolved totally different brains from humans – 300,000 years apart – they might just be capable of the same type of intelligence.

Small Ways to Live Well is a podcast from The Simple Things, a monthly magazine about slowing down, remembering what’s important and making the most of where you live.
Hosted by the Editor, Lisa Sykes, in Season 5: Return of the light, she’ll be seeking out glimpses of spring, shrugging off winter and embracing some self-care, alongside wellbeing editor Becs Frank and regular contributor Jo Tinsley.
The beginning of February marks the half-way point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, from here on in there are increasing glimpses of spring right through to the clocks going forward in late March when hopefully the proverbial lion turns into a lamb. This is an optimistic, forward-looking time, when we’re more than ready to come out of hibernation to take on new projects. And there are festivals and feasts to brighten the still grey days. February is the chilliest month but it’s all about cold hands and warm hearts.
Let our podcast be your soothing companion to see out winter and welcome in spring. Six episodes released weekly from 9 February. Plus don’t miss our Easter Special on Good Friday. Season 5: Return of the Light is supported by Blackdown Shepherd Huts
